Learn to Swim Stages (Ages 3+)

Our lessons follow the Swim England Learn to Swim Framework, supporting children from first water confidence through to strong, independent swimming. Children progress by ability, not age.

Stage 1 – Water Confidence

Book this stage if: your child is new to swimming or nervous in the water.
Focuses on feeling safe, happy, and comfortable while learning basic movement and floating with support.

Stage 2 – Early Independence

Book this stage if: your child is gaining confidence and starting to move on their own.
Develops independent floating, rotation, breathing, and short swims up to 5 metres.

Stage 3 – Beginning to Swim

Book this stage if: your child can float and swim short distances independently.
Builds control, gliding, and swimming up to 10 metres with confidence.

Stage 4 – Stroke Foundations

Book this stage if: your child can swim 10 metres and is ready to improve technique.
Introduces more structured swimming and early development of all four strokes.

Stage 5 – Developing Strokes

Book this stage if: your child is swimming confidently and ready to refine skills.
Focuses on improving stroke technique, coordination, and water safety skills.

Stage 6 – Strong & Controlled Swimming

Book this stage if: your child can swim lengths with good technique.
Develops efficiency, stamina, breathing control, and water safety awareness.

Stage 7 – Confident Swimmer

Book this stage if: your child can swim 25 meters or more confidently.
Builds strong, consistent technique and prepares swimmers for advanced pathways.
